Ramanagara: Pejawar Swamiji laments role of caste factor in politics

Daijiworld Media Network - Ramanagara (SP)

Ramanagara, Jun 13: Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math, Udupi, opined that in politics, caste should not get undue importance it has been getting now.

He explained that when the country became independent, caste differences and caste calculations were not as profound as they are now. "It is wrong to assess everything from the point of view of caste. I am pained at the fact that caste calculations have been ruling the roost in politics now," he explained.

The Swamiji claimed that he has never been into electoral politics and that people from all political outfits are in touch with him. "Our duty is to follow religious practices, spreading of spirituality, and social service. We are not expected to indulge in election-related politics. However, whenever politicians come to me seeking advice, I give them suggestions and guidance," he stated.

The Swamiji claimed that the party he had arranged last year the temple premises was a friendly get-together and not Iftar party. He expressed his wish to invite members of all minority groups for similar feast this year.

Swami please eradicate religion and just beleive in one god creation of heaven and earth. Very simple. No room for confusion or complications with various caste or various gods. One god and one religion which is human. Priest and politics makes too many complications in modern world. Human tired of religious and it's leaders and politicans. Life is short and let's celebrate as a human religion.

With all due respect to Swami’s age and position, I would like to remind him that politics or politicians did not create the caste system. It was the religion and the religious heads who did that. Politicians just try to work with the system and take advantage of it. This fact has to be reckoned by everybody, especially the religious heads like him.

I fully second Revered Sri Pejawara swamijis thoughts. Whenever he realized that things are going beyond its limit, he has always given his wise advice to people irrespect of political parties, religion, caste. He understands the sentiments of the people because people of all religion of our twin districts have always lived in harmony. Some people only have taken his advice positively and mainly his own supporters have ignored his advice which is very sad. All the political parties must keep religion and caste away from politics and strive for the development of the state and country and work for peoples welfare and for their peaceful life. Today religion has become a trump card for political parties to garner votes and play dirty politics by instigating people thus by creating communal disharmony. Hope our politicians take his advice.

The Swami's thoughts are very apt and very mature - wish the BJP , Congress and the hordes of political parties that exist today solely to play cate politics understand and mend their ways. and we, the voting public, stop playing into the hands of casteist planks.

I hold Pejawar Swamiji in high esteem for his impartial views and opinion. The sad part, however, is that his own people are sidelining him in their bid to divide the society on the basis of religion. There is no place for good and honest people like the Swamiji.

Swamiji explained that when the country became independent, caste differences and caste calculations were not as profound as they are now.

He also explains that he is pained at the fact that caste calculations have been ruling the roost in politics now." He needs to be firm in his suggestions and guidance that communalism, caste-ism is ruining the nation. Politicians are not for the welfare of the people but for their own profit. They will use swamijiis for their benefits. This the swamiji should know by now.

Exactly..., even the revered parama poojya swamiji is also realising that the REAL Hinduism is in danger...., Those who sell Hinduism to meet their political lust...., caused damage to the extent to say that couple of weeks swamiji was made to back track & clarify his honest & divine opinion about central NDA's govt's performance...,

Real Hindus must unite to defeat FEKU Hinduism...,

Very correct advice from Hon. Swamiji.
It is likely that in the days to come, many more swamiji's will join him to cleanse the political system.
Otherwise Swamiji's role also and media's role also likely to be taken over.
