Relic of St Anthony installed

Kundapur, Jun 14: The golden jubilee and annual feast of St Antony pilgrim centre, Kerekatte near Hosangadi here was celebrated with pomp and gaiety on Wednesday, June 13. Dr Bernard Moras, former archbishop of Bengaluru archdiocese offered the festive Mass.
In his homily he explained the importance of the word of God and the way one should inculcate it in lives to have value based families. He said, “The life of St Anthony is worth following by all. We should show concern towards the poor, destitute and backward class people. All of us will be loved and blessed by God when we love and serve selflessly. We should increase our devotion to St Anthony.”
Udupi diocese Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Udupi diocese chancellor Fr Stany Lobo, Kundapur vicar forane Fr Stany Tauro, Kerekatte church parish priest Fr Xavier Pinto and priests from Kundapur and Udupi diocese were the concelebrants of the Mass.
Dr Bernard Moras and Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo blessed the new belfry of the church and inaugurated it before the Mass.
Relic of St Anthony was also installed at the shrine on the occasion.
Kerekatte pilgrim centre director Fr Xavier Pinto, who has been serving the church for the last 15 years and Dr Bernard Moras, who visited the centre for the first time and offered Mass, were felicitated in a programme held after the Mass.
Donor for the new belfry, Mumbai based Lynette William D’Souza, engineer Sandeep D’Almeida, Kundapur and contractor P T Alex were felicitated on the occasion.
Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo conveyed his best wishes. Those who extended monetary help for the festival were presented candles and thanked. Udupi diocese chancellor Fr Stany Lobo, Fr Stany Tauro and Fr John Mendonca were present in the programme.
Alwyn Pinto welcomed and Fr Xavier Pinto thanked. Thousands of devotees visited the centre since Tuesday morning, lit candles, offered flowers and prayed. Meals were arranged for the devotees.
