Ranchi/Dumka, Jun 15 (TOI): A Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee team visited Talajhari and Banjhi villages in Godda district on Thursday to meet family members of the two Muslim men lynched by a mob on suspicion of being cattle thieves, and accused BJP and RSS members of fomenting tension in the area.
Talking to TOI, team member and Jamtara MLA Irfan Ansari alleged that the lynching took place in one village and the bodies were dumped in a tribal-dominated village to implicate them in the case.
“We were told that BJP leaders and RSS workers had visited the village a week before the lynching took place,” he said and accused BJP of polarising people on communal lines.
Meanwhile, police claimed cow vigilantism was not the reason behind the lynching incident.
Instead, they found the incident had taken place due to anger of the villagers whose cattle had been stolen.
