Akbar wasn't great, only Maharana Pratap was: Yogi Adityanath

Lucknow, June 15 (IT): Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath yesterday said that only Mewar ruler Maharana Pratap was great and not Mughal emperor Akbar.

He praised Maharana Pratap for winning his forts back from Akbar. The CM was addressing an RSS gathering on the occasion of Mewar kings birthday during which a special edition of magazine Avadh Prahri was also released.

"Akbar's only condition for Pratap was to accept him as 'badshah' following which he will not interfere in Mewar king's state.But Maharana Pratap refused to accept him as his king because he was a Turk who couldn't be trusted," he said.

Yogi said that Maharana Pratap is still remembered today even after 500 years because fought for his pride and refused to bend his knees in front of a foreigner. Friendship cannot come at the cost of self-respect,'' Yogi said.

The ministers speech was applauded amid chants of 'Jai Shri Ram' and 'Bharat Mata ki Jai'.

Last year, Yogi's MLA Sangeet Som had also made a similar statement and termed Mughal emperors Babur, Akbar and Aurangzeb "traitors". He had said that their names should be removed from the pages of history.

    to people who cry that there were temples where the present buildings are situated..lemme tell you even before temples there were forests where wild animals used to roam...so in that case all buildings should be destroyed and forests must be grown again...cz we are going back to ancient time..

    Rogi jii, I don't agree that neither Akbar nor Maharana Pratap is Great!!!!!! For me FEKU MAHARAJ & VOMIT DAKU are greater than above two!!!! Because above two were straight forward, truthful ad courageous!!!!! Where as, the later two are FULL OF JUUMLES, LIARS, DECEIVERS, FEKUS and BRASHTAS !!!!!!!     Will these CM & Politicians stop talking about history & start talking about Present n Future.
    People in UP need Good Governance under you Mr. Yogi. They care a damn about your History because that has long gone. Talk about what you are doing to your State Citizens, children / Infants die, rapes take place on a daily basis, your MLA s named in rape cases. Here you are talking about who was great in History.
    If you can, make yourself a Great Leader, work on Progress of your state, then some day in future your name might come in History saying that " UP had a Swamijie as Chief Minister &he was the Best " . May be our grand children might get text books which feature you, if you create a history, for which you need to live your present and work towards future Mr. Yogi..!!

    There was no India or Hindustan at that time. No such names. It was all colonial rules each was a princely state ruled by their own kings with their own rules, expanding Kingdom of each other by trying to defeat one another. There was no.concept of Hindu Muslim in those area. Every Kingdom had soldiers, ministers etc of mixed Religion, so it cannot be called as Hindu army or Muslim army. All they wanted was to expand Kingdom and rule the expanded Kingdom. This was the concept of those era through out the world.

    One cannot take that history and compare it with their own version of modern day.

    This Yogi who is a communal Rogi in his heart always trying to twist history and creating hatred among people. He knows only to praise Hindu people irrespective of whether they were of it''s worthy r not. Just see Muslim names then bash them and see Hindu names then praise them. Sick mind.
