Shivamogga, Jun 21: Former BJP MLA Belur Gopalakrishna who recently left BJP after he was denied a ticket from Sagar constituency and joined Congress party, has condemned income tax (I-T) department for serving notice on minister, D K Shivakumar.
Speaking at a press meet held in the city on Wednesday on June 20, he asked I-T department to raid the residence of MP Shobha Karandlaje. "If her residence is raided, the department will gain access to money stashed away by former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa," he stated.
At the same time, he offered to successfully discharge duties if the party entrusts to him the task of bringing legislators into Congress from other parties. He also accused Shobha Karandlaje of having amassed enormous money during seat sharing process.
Gopalakrishna reasoned that Congress party was defeated because of money earned by Yeddyurappa out of corrupt deals. "In seat sharing during election, Yeddyurappa got lot of money. Out of this, he spent half amount for Sagar and Shikaripura seats, he said, and accused state BJP president of getting votes by making voters to swear to support him by showing to them pictures of Goddess of Sigandhur.
