Mangaluru: 'Eagle Risers' team lifts Mangala Premier League badminton cup

Mangaluru, Jun 26: The third season of Mangala Premier League badminton tournament was recently organized by Mangala Badminton Association at Mallya Indoor Staidum here.

The two-day tournament was inaugurated by MLA Vedavyas Kamath along with A Sadananda Shetty of Shree Devi Education Trust. In a sportive gesture, Kamath played badminton displaying impressive skills with the raquet.

President of Mangala Badminton Association, C S Bhandary, expressed the opinion that playing badminton is very essential for maintaining good health. He wished that badminton associations will continue to serve people to improve their health condition, and also inculcate sportsmen spirit among them.

The tournament saw some keen contest between the teams, with 'Eagle Risers' team owned by Abid Ali winning the championship, while 'Alva Rockstars' owned by Suraj Alva took home the runner-up trophy.

Abid Ali, Niyaz A K, Riaz, Shekhar, Jayaprashanth, Praveen Bangera, Lochan, Manohar Amin, Praveen M P, Chandrashekhar, M D Subrahmanyan, Venkatesh, Lakshmi N, and Sangeeth Chand were the players of the winning team.

Sural Alva, Noor, Chetan, Vidhur, Senthil, Guru,Yashodhara, Fazli, J Bhandary, Kiran, Narendra, Praveen and Divya were in the runner-up team.

Sports committee president, Parimar Ilagan, club secretary, Deepak Kumar, vice-presidents, Shivaprasad Prabhu, Shivanand Shenoy, joint secretary, Riaz, treasurer, Lakshmi Suvarna and others were present.
