Udupi: Central cabinet approves creation of additional strategic petro reserve at Padur

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jun 28: The Union cabinet meeting has given its approval for creation of an additional strategic petroleum reserve with a capacity of 2.5 million tonnes at Padur in the district. The cabinet also cleared a proposal to set up storage facility through cavern in Chandikhol, Odisha, with a capacity of 4.4 million tonnes.

A decision to this effect was taken at the meeting chaired by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on Wednesday June 27. These additional facilities will enable the country to manage demand for petroleum products for a period of 12 days in case of crisis.

The central government plans to set up these plants with private participation. These projects are expected to create thousands of new jobs.

Can we tell our kids not to waste petrol by unnecessary bike ride ? Can we have only one car than multiple cars as prestige to move a single person ? Can we think about walking for shorter distances than using vehicle ? Can we keep some cows at home (watching against their poaching ) and create Biogas to cook food ?

Reducing the petrol price doesn't helps. Limiting their usage cautiously helps a lot.

Definitely NO, Sir, unless the expectations are either from a dumb illiterate or purely sarcastic. It is for emergency, for our kids and a wonderful foresight at heavy additional expenses. Let us be sensible and increase our carbon footprints instead!

This Move was for security purpose.,which should have been done long time ago.
Price cuts is only possible if the buyers make a alliance similar to OPEC which india and china are trying.

Very good move in total India currently has a 39 million barrels of strategic storage from both Vizag (9.8 Million Barrels), Padur (18.4 Million Barrels) and Mangalore (11 Million Barrels).
    Suggestion:
    • A similar approach need to be established to develop infrastructure of Natural Gas and LNG similar to the pipelines being installed between Russia and China.
    • India needs a strategy to develop energy infrastructure (Planning for next 50 years from now)
