Bantwal, Jun 28: A K Mohammed, popularly known as 'Maistry Mammachcha' in Vittal and surrounding areas in the taluk, singlehandedly filled potholes dotting the Marnabail-Kabaka state highway's stretch between Kadumath and Salethur. With this altruist and selfless service, he has earned lavish praise from the people.
Thousands of vehicles make use of the said road everyday. For laying water pipe, the road had been dug up in the middle. The dug up road was creating numerous problems for the vehicle users. Mohammed, who saw that the damaged road had been creating problems to road users, came forward to fill the patches with mud. Mohammed, who normally walks the distance between his house and Salelthur, wanted to help road users and pedestrians like him alike. He noticed that many a time, vehicle riders, in a bid to avoid potholes, were riding the vehicles haphazardly, thus posing risk for children and aged people using the road.
The people are surprised at the initiatjve undertaken by Mohammed to do something food for the public at a time when people are seen robbing public property. The dedication of Mohammed was so much that he worked continuously in the midst of heavy rainfall. Mohammed, who basically is a construction supervisor since long, has worked extensively in social circles for the welfare of the general public and is backed by loads of experience in several fields.
