Mangaluru: SAC conducts coaching for civil services/ competitive exams (UPSC)

Mangaluru, Jun 29: The department of Political Science, St Aloysius College (autonomous) on June 28 organized coaching programme for civil services/ competitive exams (UPSC) at Sanidhya Hall, administrative block.

Deputy commissioner, Sasikanth Senthil, IAS was the chief guest for the programme.

Senthil, in his address to the aspirants relaxed the atmosphere by claiming that he was an average student and a perennial back bencher. He narrated his life story for the aspirants to draw inspiration, strength and motivation. Senthil changed his job from IT to working in the field through teaching and interacting with a variety of people. This inspired him to take on numerous attempts to finally crack the IAS at the fifth attempt standing ninth in All India. He emphasised that UPSC exam is only a reflection of the job one is upto. Therefore he explained four important qualities with personal examples: interest in everything; empathy for all; maintain anonymity in the job and lastly bind it with courage.



Students put forth numerous queries centered around preparation and attempts, challenges, physique, academy at Mussorie, political pressure, barriers etc. Senthil answered them in a jovial, nonchalant and practical manner. His humility and openness drew immense admiration from the students and teachers.

During the programme, a Value Education Book (Module I & II) 'Harmony with Life: Reflection for Positive Choices' compiled by Dr Rose Veera D’Souza, department of Political Science was released.

Fr Leo D’Souza former rector, Fr Pradeep Sequeira finance officer, Dr Alwyn D’Sa director of the administration block, Dr Roseveera D’Souza HOD department Of Political Science and Alwin D’Souza convener were present.
