Mangaluru, Jun 30: District in-charge minister on Saturday, June 30, said that some elements were simply trying to defame St Agnes College.

It has a great history and is a pioneer of education in the state. Everyone respects the college and management of St Agnes College. But now, a few people are trying to defame this institution,”
“These types of issues should be discussed at the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office and solutions should be found out there only. There is no need to publicize such issues or take them to the streets. I have already discussed this issue the DC. We are hoping that the issue will have a peaceful ending. It is every individual’s responsibility to maintain communal harmony in our surroundings and the district. It will lead to a peaceful and civilized society,” he added.
"There are reports that a girl studying at St Agnes College has received a threat call from abroad compelling her to support the hijab issue. If she is ready to file a complaint, we will definitely take action,” he said.
Answering a query on Mularpatna bridge collapse, he said, "I have visited the bridge which collapsed recently. Necessary actions will be taken by the officials and engineers. I have already instructed the DC to provide motor boats for locals to cross the river.”
