Udupi, Jul 2: A team of 90 veena players stole the hearts of the audience with their soulful renditions at Rajangana auditorium of Sri Krishna Math on Sunday, July 1.
The concert, which was held for the first time ever, was organized by Dr Pallathadka Keshav Memorial Trust, in association with Kala Spandana on the occasion of its 23rd annual fest.
The spectacular concert enthralled the audience at Rajangana. Soulful renditions, dedicated to Lord Sri Krishna left the spectators in awe. As many as 90 veena players, including seniors, juniors and students, seated systematically in rows, wearing traditional dress performed on the stage. The men were dressed in traditional green coloured paijamas and white dhoti, while the women wore green sarees.
The veena players performed devotional songs, sthothras of great seers, keerthanas of Purandara Dasa, Sri Madhwacharya, and Vadiraja Thulsi sankeerthanas. The concert was led by Vidushi Vandana from Bengaluru. The performance of the students from Kala Spandana was an added feature.
Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji of Palimar Math inaugurated and blessed the programme. He also honoured nine veena gurus.
Devaki Bhat presided over the function.
Vidushi Yoga Vandana, Bengaluru, and Dr Anusuya Devi, Mangaluru were the chief guests. Pavana and Dr Balachandra Achar, trustees were present.
Shilpa Joshi welcomed and Pavana rendered vote of thanks.
