Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jul 5: A proposal to build a new bridge by the side of the existing Gurpur bridge had been submitted during March this year to the union department of surface transport and highways. As per the proposal, the bridge which will be built on national highway 169, will cost Rs 38 crore.

PWD minister, H D Revanna, promised to begin work on the bridge by calling for tender, immediately after the union government's sanction for this proposal is received.

The minister was replying to the matter raised by MLC, Ivan D'Souza, in the legislative council.

The minister drew the attention of the MLC to the fact that there is heavy inflow and force of water in the river at present, and hence undertaking the work of bridge repair is not practicable at present. He however assured that this work will be attended to once the water flow in the river comes down.

Our hitech dreamer minister of the 2nd UPA Govt did nothing for the state n the district.
Now when it's almost at dire stage our politicians have got up.
Please send your MLA's & MPs by helicopters to survey and learn the situation and conduct press conferences.
Who bothers of bridges n roads?
The dams & bridges built by the govt in the past needs serious maintenance.
But our politicians are busy in fire n fast un to death and hatred.
