India now seen as a shining star, says Modi

New Delhi, Jul 6 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that India is now seen as a shining star in the world and is associated with fast economic growth and honest, transparent governance.

Addressing the 8th International Convention of Saurashtra Patel Cultural Samaj, being held in California this year, through video conference, he appealed to the NRI community to motivate at least five foreign families to visit India every year for Bharat Darshan.

Modi lauded the efforts of NRIs, particularly the Saurashtra Patel community, saying that Indians living abroad had made the country proud and their efforts have ensured that Indian passport is respected everywhere.

He also said "India is now seen as a shining star in the world" and "is associated with fast economic growth and honest, transparent governance."

"Initiatives like GST and strict action against corruption has helped people doing honest business. These initiatives have resulted in 42-place jump in the Ease of Doing Business rankings in the last four years," he said.

Modi also appealed to the NRI community to work towards the dream of creating a New India. He said various schemes of government, like Swachh Bharat have boosted tourism in the country.

Appealing to NRI community to motivate at least five foreign families to visit India every year, he said it can pave a new way to serve the purpose of "Ek Bharat Shresht Bharat Abhiyan" and will boost India's tourism development.

Modi also dwelled on how NRIs can contribute to the success of Mahatma Gandhi's dream of "Swachh Bharat" and how India would celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of the Mahatma, beginning from October 2.

India under Modi is only shining increasingly in Bigotry. DK and Udupi districts electionresults in the recently concluded State Assembly elections as well as the continued cow/beef related lynchings around the country are enough proof of that.

Our Gujju-bhai is very proud of the Patels in US.

But he has not mentioned anything about those Patels who go to Mexico and then illegally cross into US.

We do not know how many Mexico-to-US illegal Patels are in the US jails. One particular case of a woman Patel (33-year-old Bhavan Patel) in the US detention has been recently widely published in the media.

Let us hope that these Mexico-to-US illegal Patels promote India in the detention centres.

Rita, I thought brain dead people don't talk. But Modi has proved otherwise. When minors are raped he does not open his mouth for a week. Now he appeals to the NRI community to motivate at least five foreign families to visit India every year for Bharat Darshan, but our caution, don't bring minor girls. India was firmly put on world map by Manmohan Singh, whereas now with chota robbing 13,000 crores, India is a shining star of Political thuggery. Can you imagine Indian Rupee has fallen from $/58 to now $=69. Is it a sign of shining or stinking economic growth.
Remove Hindutva slogan, BJP is nothing but a sinking boat. Communal and criminal elements will keep it floating for a while.

Of course, India is Shining Star, but the sad part is the sky covered with BJP and its Gangs clouds. So no one can see the star now unless and until these clouds are gone away from the sky.

Mr. Feku Maharaj! I asked a few young & middle aged couples to Visit India to see some ancient wonder works but for my embarrassement one has said that if I give them first class Airticket , Five Star hotel stay in Super Delux suite and One Million Dollar in cash, still they deny my offer. Another one, a young couple are interested in seeing the Marvel work of Taj Mahal, Ajanta Ellora and Gol Gumbaj but he don't like to visit with his young wife instead he will wait until they become 70 + or he will opt for visiting alone and showing his wife all the LIVE footage through video conferencing!!!!
Now let me know how to explain them BRIGHTNESS of the "SHINING STAR?????"

How can India be a shinning star with all the unfortunate happenings that have got bad coverage all aroungd the world. If the PM had decided to open his mouth at the right time, may be the situation could have been salvaged.

Only during the elections, the PM is on loud speaker mode otherwise he presses the Silent mode and looks the other way.
