Puttur: ICYM in association with schools celebrate ‘Vanamahostsava’

Puttur, Jul 7: Indian Catholic Youth Movement, Mai De Deus School, St Victor Girls High School, St Victor English Higher Primary School, and Mai De Deus Higher Primary School of Mai De Deus Church here jointly celebrated ‘Vanamahostsava’ by organising a procession to create awareness among the people.

Parish priest correspondent Fr Alfred John Pinto, presided over the function and inaugurated the programme. Assistant director of Horticulture, Hole Basappa, was the chief guest. He highlighted the importance of growing plants and trees. Correspondent Fr Alfred John Pinto, assistant parish priest Fr Praveen D'Souza, heads of the three institutions, ICYM members, teachers and non-teaching staff and the students of the three schools actively participated in the procession and made it a grand success.



 

Aassistant parish priest Fr Praveen D'Souza inspired ICYM youngsters to collaborate with these three institutions to make it joint venture. The heads of the three institutions, PTA vice-president ICYM coordinator Dimple Fernandes, ICYM president Gavin Mascarenhas, and vice-president of the parish council J P Rodrigues were also present.

The programme was a grand success. It brought awareness among the students and people about green in and around the vicinity. It also strengthened the bond between plants and humans.

Rosaline Lobo, the headmistress of St Victor Girls’ High School welcomed the gathering. Dimple Tauro of ICYM rendered the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Inas Gonsalves, St Victor Girls’ High School.
