New Delhi: Opportunity to speak in Konkani in parliament monsoon session

New Delhi, Jul 11: Rajya Sabha members have been provided an opportunity to speak in 22 languages including Konkani and Kannada in the monsoon session of parliament that will start from July 18.

It was possible to speak in seventeen languages including Kannada and Gujarati so far. Konkani, Dogri, Kashmiri, Santhali and Sindhi languages are added this time. Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu and the secretariat has arranged for simultaneous interpretation facility for the five new languages.

Meanwhile speaker of Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan has written to all the MP s expressing anguish of wasting parliament sessions due to pandemonium by members. “There will be no disturbances to the sessions if we remember that the parties before this had caused commotions. We should introspect and protect the reputation and sanctity of the parliament,” she stated in the letter.
