Newly opened shopping mall collapses in Mexico

Mexico City, Jul 13 (IANS): A newly opened shopping mall in Mexico City has partially collapsed, but no casualties were reported.

Dozens of people shared images of the collapse on Thursday on social media, showing how one of the walls crashes down into an area that was previously cordoned off, reports Efe news.

The Plaza Artz shopping mall was inaugurated three months ago and is located in El Pedregal, one of the city's wealthiest neighbourhoods.

"At the moment there are no reports of people having been injured or trapped in the collapse of the shopping mall in El Pedregal," the head of Mexico City's civil protection agency, Fausto Lugo, tweeted.
