Mangalore, Oct 3: "Bajrang Dal is a part of Vishwa Hindu Parishat. All of us work for the same cause, of betterment of Hindu society. I have resigned for the welfare of Hindu society, under instructions from seniors. No politics was involved in my decision," asserted Bajrang Dal ex-state convener Mahendra Kumar.
In a press statement issued from the sub-jail here, where he has been lodged currently, Kumar said that Hindutva is in his breath. "I had said that Bajrang Dal supports the reaction of the Hindu society for deriding Hindu gods through books like 'Satyadarshini'. My statement was wrongly analyzed. Lacs of Hindus have awakened to the vilification campaign against Hindu gods. I have decided to join hands with the youth from Hindu society who have taken up cudgels against religious conversions," Kumar said.
He has advised the activists, who will be taking part in the Dattamala campaign from October 13 to 19, to involve with the activates under the guidance of seniors, without getting entangled in any sort of troubles.
In the meanwhile, it has been gathered that all the members of Hebri unit of Bajrang Dal have resigned en masse, in protest against the pressure brought on Mahendra Kumar by the state political leaders and the central leaders to resign from his post in Bajrang Dal. They have also expressed anguish at the fact that Kumar is being framed in several cases at a time, even when he is in the jail. More units might follow suit in the coming days.
On Thursday October 2, policemen came to the local sub-jail, armed with a body warrant against him, in a case relating to an incident in Kollur. This is the sixth case against him in the state, charging him in various sections including attempt to murder, communal provocation etc.
