Bengaluru, Jul 16 (Deccan Chronicle): An IPS officer from Bengaluru Rural is in the dock after a video of him, while in uniform, indulging in an adulterous act with the wife of a software professional surfaced on Sunday.
After the techie husband filed a complaint, the Koramangala police have taken up a non-cognisable case under Section 497 (adultery) of IPC and are likely to seek the permission of the court to take legal action on Monday.
But the wife of the complainant has come forward and alleged that she was not happy with her husband and was living separately for the last few months. If sources are to be believed, the woman is now thinking of filing a case against her husband.
On Sunday, the complainant submitted a video clip of the officer in uniform in a compromising position with his wife. The techie, who hails from Davangere, said that he approached the police on Thursday. He also met DG&IGP Neelamani Raju and other top officers, but was not given a fair hearing, he alleged. On Monday, the First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court is likely to hear the case. The techie, going before the media, alleged that the police did not register a case based on his complaint.
He told the media that he got married in 2010, and shifted to the US along with his wife.
They stayed there for two years before returning to India and settling down in Davangere. His wife was reportedly looking after a graphic designing studio when she met the police officer in 2017. The officer was at the studio for the photoshoot of his twin daughters.
"Soon after, the police officer and my wife began an affair. Initially, I didn't know about their clandestine meetings, which occurred regularly at his office and at a coffee shop. After I found out, I warned my wife and she stopped meeting the officer," the complainant said.
But, the techie said, the two resumed their affair and started meeting again without his knowledge. They had even booked a resort in Davangere. The affair came to light when the complainant came across a video of the officer kissing his wife on his wife's phone. The complainant also alleged that when he confronted the officer, he was threatened with an encounter killing.
Till Sunday night, no case, but only a non cognizable report had been registered at the Koramangala police station.
