Police disperse protesting teachers in Srinagar


Srinagar, Jul 17 (IANS): A protest march taken out here on Tuesday by teachers, seeking implementation of 7th pay commission recommendations for Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) project teaching staff, was stopped by police using mild force.

Police used water canons to disperse the protesting teachers who were marching towards the Raj Bhawan, to make their demands heard, officials said.

Police also took dozens of protesting teachers into preventive custody.
