Mob lynching: SC order shows mirror to PM Modi, ministers, says Yechury

New Delhi, Jul 17 (PTI): The CPI(M) today claimed that the Supreme Court's judgement on incidents of mob lynching showed the mirror to the ministers and Prime Minister Narendra Modi "under whose watch such crimes were being committed".

CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury said the central government should be "ashamed" after the apex court's judgement.

"It has shown the mirror to the ministers and the PM under whose watch these crimes are being committed," he tweeted.

The Supreme Court today asked Parliament to consider enacting a new law to effectively deal with incidents of mob lynching, saying "horrendous acts of mobocracy" cannot be allowed to become a new norm.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra also passed a slew of directions to provide "preventive, remedial and punitive measures" to deal with offences like mob violence and cow vigilantism.

The bench, which also comprised justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud, said it was the duty of state governments to ensue law and order in society, besides ensuring that the rule of law prevailed.

Its better late than never. its an organised crime. even today the lynchers are garlanded by union ministers is nothing surprising. its an organised crime (i repeat). that the reason if you give statement like hegde you are rewarded as union minister. every lyncher or torller has been rewarded . its been going on (home work ) more than 10years. In Mangalore & udupi these lynchers have become very big Hero's. ministers visit their house . They even shared stage with PM. They hold prime positions were there is lots of govt money get in to their pocket (even though govt claim it goes to account ) . they are with the minister all the time. An educated community like Mangalore & Udupi accepts it ..what will be the scene in rest of India. ?

If at least the PM condemns immediately such incidents it would have been an indication that he is a diplomatic politician. His silence indicated his tacit approval of these criminal elements for they voted him to power. Now he wants to target his opponents by controlling Whatsapp and other communication channels so that the opponents could be systematically identified, targeted and eliminated at wish.
