Gunfight breaks out in J&K


Srinagar, Jul 19 (IANS): A gunfight broke out between hiding militants and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district on Thursday, police said.

Security forces surrounded Batpora area of Kupwara after intelligence reports about the presence of militants there, said a police officer.

"As the cordon around the hiding militants was tightened, they fired at the security forces, triggering the gunfight which is going on," the officer added.
