Karkala, Jul 21: The police, on July 19, recovered gold ornaments stolen from Florine Machado (54) from Ayyappa Nagara, Kukkundur near here after murdering her on July 17. The ornaments, which were taken away by the murder-accused, were sold by him, as per information.
Mohammed Riaz was produced in the court on July 17 after which the court had ordered his police custody for five days. On the basis information provided by Riaz during his questioning, investigating officer, Joy Antony, and his team went to Sunil Jewellers, Andheri Mumbai, and recovered the golden chain and pendant from there. The gold ornaments recovered from the accused are worth Rs 1, 50,000.

The accused was produced in the court on July 20 after which he was remanded to judicial custody.
