Mangaluru, Jul 21: Congress leader Ivan D’Souza has requested the chief minister to speed up procedures related to setting up a new Christian Development Board as well as t0 increase the grant, which is allocated in the recent budget, from Rs 200 crore to Rs 300 crore.
Addressing the media on Saturday, July 21, he said, “Chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has already given the permission for the new Christian Developmental Board. I hope it will become a reality very soon. Both Congress and JD(S) had mentioned about new Board for Christians in their election manifestos. It is also included in the coalition government’s common programmes. We are requesting the CM to accelerate the procedures,"
“Total 5,981 students have received loans worth Rs 20.46 crore from minority department for higher studies. But governments failed to create employment opportunities for the youth, nor set-up an encouraging entrepreneurial atmosphere. Now the students who completed their studies are finding it difficult to reimburse the loans. So government should waive their loans and stop sending the notices for recovery,” he said.
Further giving information on 'Mane Malige Yojane ' he said, "Already 850 have applied online for this scheme. It is scheme for those who went to jail with various cases and were given clean chit by court. Same time, people who lost their homes in communal violence incidents and natural disasters are also eligible for this scheme. In this scheme an individual can get Rs 10 lac for a home and business set-up. Government gives 50% subsidy on this loan and balance Rs 5 lac should be paid by the borrower with an interest of 3 %. So it is my request to people to avail the benefits of this scheme and apply before August 31,” concluded.
