Mangaluru, Jul 22: The Ullal police here have arrested Mohammed Mustafa, resident of Mukkacheri alias Sonu (21), in connection with the attempt to murder and posing of threats to a youth here in an attempt to pressurize the victim to withdraw an old case filed against the former.
The accused had reportedly attacked Venkatesh from Mastikatte, Ullal on June 29 and made an attempt to kill him, for coercing him into withdrawing thesaid case against him.
Case under sections 341, 323, 504, 506, and 307 of Indian Penal Code stands registered against Mohammed. Mustafa already faces two murder cases registered in Ullal police station. He faces another case registered in Kankanady police station, and four more cases in Konaje station. One of these cases relate to theft.
Notorious criminal of 24 criminal cases arrested in Ullal
Police have arrested Haneef alias Mohammed Hanif (30), resident of Madaninagar, who is wanted in 24 different criminal cases.
He has been facing cases of murder, attempt to murder, assault, robbery and theft against him in Ullal police station, apart from a case of murder in Mangaluru north police station and robbery in Kushalnagar police station. Altogether he has been facing 24 cases as of now.
He is the resident of K C Nagar, Talapady at present. The court had issued a warrant for his arrest. Ullal police station inspector, Gopikrishna K R, sub-inspector, Guruvappa Kanthi and Vinayaka Toragal and staff arrested Haneef when he was lingering about in the vicinity of Ullal Dargah on Saturday, July 21.
