I have known Fr Alexander Lobo for long. He was a great leader, a visionary, very compassionate at heart and self giving. Balkunje owes its High School to Fr Alexander without which the students either had to tread long distances or give up schooling. With the help of the parishioners he got the school built and handed over its management to the Bethany Congregation. W e remain ever grateful to you dear Father, May you rest in peace.

    Late Rev Fr. Alexander Lobo,

A Good Samaritan priest, who gave light and life to many individuals and families while he was a Parish Priest in the Parishes.
While he was a Parish Priest, he noticed, many people in his Parishes, begbing for help and compassion.
Many families on the verge of breakdown due to moral degradation, financial difficulties or misguidance.
Helping such a sinking society was not easy as a Parish Priest, who ordained specially for his religious duties first.

The job was like conducting a risky surgery on a person, against the laid down medical ethics. But boldly he bowed down like Jesus Christ, to wash his Apostols feet.
And he went on washing till his last breath.
He did not look back to see as to how many needy people whom he graciously helped, followed him but whoever came to meet him, he graciously shook their hands with smile and gentleness and responded with gratitude.
But rarely people noticed a flash of pain on his face hiding behind his smile.

Whatever he thought was just and right he executed without any hesitation and fear.

As a teacher, he knew the psychology of his students, so he very well understood the minds of his Parishioners.

His Parishioners remember him, not for his priestly duties but for the noble deeds he did to them.

Today he may not there to see the lined up crowd who came and assembled to show their last respect, but his life giving deeds witness what he left behind.

    This is called
    'A life begins after demise.'
He was a priest stood by his religious vows but at the same time melting down to the needy even untill his last penny and breath.

A model priest to all religious and faithfuls, who showed in action that walking in JESUS'S footsteps is not 'bed of roses'
    but sweat and blood.

May his soul rest in peace and let the memories of his noble deeds be an inspiration to all of us, to spread goodness, with a message that, 'THIS IS THE LIFE AFTER DEATH.'

Fr. Alexander Lobo, was a teacher close to my heart. While he was a headmaster and my Math teacher at St. Mary's High School, Kundapur, In the year 1971-73, I have had the strongest memories with him.

Since i was the naughtiest kid along with my pals, Eric Carvalho & Dainy D'sa, Father, out of concern for our upbringing used to call us to his parish house and instill some positive values into us. I recall each and every word even till this date.

we have truly lost a person who made a huge impact in our lives. You will always be remembered Father.
My heartfelt condolences extended to his family. May his soul rest in peace.

Last week when I visited Fr Lobo in Kankanady hospital, he said a few words which I cherish fondly, 'I have come to almost end of my life, there is acute pain in the body, I cannot take in anything. I offer my pains to the Lord as I lay here. Pray for me.Thanks for the visit...'There was sweet smile on his face as he smiled.. I too felt his end is near. Held his hand and consoled him with a few words and prayer.
I am one of the first vocations he promoted when he was the first HM of Kundapur St Mary's High School. I am proud to be the first priest ordained from among those he promoted to priesthood. I have admired him for his strong personality and bold leadership, yet meek and friendly, Let us pray for his Eternal reward and Joy in the Risen Lord. Adieu Fr Alexander Lobo. May we too imitate your virtues and follow our Master Jesus Christ. RIP

A man dies twice, once he is physically no more and when people stop talking about him, Father Alexander lobo will never die ,Fr Alexander Lobo himself a Book. There was lot of learning from his life, it was a blessing to the parish of Pangla, He was more involved in constructing the church by spreading the love of Christ, priest for the people, solved lot of difference of opinions and constructed roads for the people,. Tremendous effort to bring back the alcoholics, for the poor always a helping hand with his own pension money & visit the families regularly. During his time he was more on to invoking youth to join seminary , Celebrated the teachers day children’s day in a lovely way. He was a teacher by life inspiring example, Even though he was Aged he was young, having resident children during 10 final exams for the tuition. His assistant priest loved him like anything and today they will miss him, he always loved the rich hatred people even though they were poor financially. U can never die as long as we live as you have left deep memories in us, we have learned a lot from your exemplary life , even thought u are not physically not present will not allow u to die by continuing and practicing your values. You have left foot print in Every heart.

Heartfelt condolences to Jilly teacher and family. I met Rev Fr Alexander when Jilly teacher sustained fracture of the hip and I operated on her.He even took me once to their house to visit Jilly teacher. Thereafter, we used to meet frequently on the corridors of Fr Mullers, as he was visiting many of the patients whom he knew.
I will never forget the love and affection he had to fellow priests. He was staying in Vianney Home, where many of the retired priests were staying. Fr Alexander Lobo was the in charge of the Vianney Home for some time. During that time, whenever the priests from Vianney Home were admitted to the hospital he used to visit them frequently, spend time in their hospital rooms to take care of them. I was taken aback when I visited late Fr Mark D'sa once in the Vianney Home once. Fr. Mark D'sa was bedridden and Fr. Alexander was sleeping on the floor of Fr. D'sa's room on a mat to take care of Fr. D'sa. The room was small and there was no place for another bed. I do not think anyone else would have done it.
A humble priest of great virtues.
May his soul rest in peace.

I had known Fr. Alexander Lobo for many years and never missed a chance to meet him whenever I was in Mangalore. As many in this forum said, Fr. Lobo was a strict disciplinarian and educationalist. He always gave special attention to weaker section of students which is very rare in real life. One of the greatest sacrifices Fr. Lobo did was in Vianney home taking care of retired priests. I visited Vianney home several times and saw the transformation taking place and smile on so many retired sick priests due to the presence, supervision and dedicated service of Fr. Lobo. He was taking care of priests with disabilities, cleaning them and dressing them. The facility in Vianney home was pathetic but with the efforts of Fr. Lobo, ensured continuous supply of hot water so the priests could take a decent shower! However, I don't think the diocese took this in a positive way, and slowly eased him off his duties to the detriment of still living retired neglected priests over there! The article in Daiji did not give any glimpse of his dedicated service in Vianney home!

Fr. Alex, the diocese can ignore and forget what you did in your life but our good Lord has seen your dedicated life in His service. May your soul rest in peace. I salute a real soldier of our Lord.

At Vianney Home, seeing how passionately he was taking care of old, sick and retired priests to improve their living conditions with better facilities besides taking care of the bedridden ones. I was taken aback by his zeal to help them to that extent while he was going through his own health issues. I am somewhat lucky that, was very well known to him in Moodubelle.
In my mind no doubt that he was a very humble priest of great virtues as Dr. Edward Nazareth mentioned in his tribute to Fr. Alexander Lobo.

FOR ME LIVING IS CHRIST AND DYING IS GAIN (PHIL 1:21).
Shocked to hear that Fr Alexander Lobo is no more. I began my priestly ministry with him in Pangla, Shankerpura. I was his last assistant too in his last parish where I had the opportunity to hear the stories of his long mission as teacher and the parish priest. The zeal for the mission is the greatest value I learned from him. This zeal he continued till the end. Jesus' words "...do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing" (Mt 6:3-4) were practiced by Fr Lobo to a great extent. I know him for his love for the poor, love for the education, and zeal for Jesus' mission. I missed him very much due to my studies here in Rome and now will miss him forever! The last time I met him, he was playing cards with his sister at home; an event I can't forget. The card-play was for time pass and relaxation but was played with a bet between the two. The money, they said went for the mission. Jilly teacher brought out a box in which the prize-money was collected for the mission.
I thank the Lord for the gift of Fr Lobo for the Diocese of Mangalore and in my own life. I also thank God for the love Fr Lobo showed me and my family and for the inspiration and witness of his life. I pray to God that he gives the strength to bear the loss of Fr Lobo, especially to his family members and all those who were touched by the compassionate and loving touch of Fr Lobo.
May God grant you eternal rest and the heavenly bliss as your reward which you in your solid and exemplary faith believed and proclaimed.
    Rest in Peace Fr Lobo.

Very sad to hear that Fr. Alexander Lobo is no more. He was a gem of a person and one of the few dedicated priests in Mangalore Diocese who committed his life and energy for the upliftment of education in diocesean schools especially among the deserving needy students. Several students have benefited from his kind deeds especially in Balkunje, Moodubelle and Rosario schools among others. He was a gem of a person and was always approachable. I was very fortunate in that he not only blessed my nuptials but also that of my parents. Although of late, he had problems with his hearing, he still had a great smile even though his body was getting weak. Rest in peace Fr. Alexander for the good Lord has definitely reserved his reward for you in heaven.

Heartfelt condolences!. I remember him in Balkunje as a dynamic personality and leader to start St. Paul's High School in 1975. Other high schools were more than 4 miles away, and till then few Balkunje students could step into high school studies by walking or cycling.
May his soul Rest in Peace!

Can't forget this father. During his tenure as headmaster of Rosario high school, the school scaled greater heights... His main intention was upliftment if poor boys of the region ..He made us reside in the school for 2 months before the final board exam and saw to it that we achieved good results. We used to get irritated because he was very strict and was a taskmaster..Now we realise the values he managed to instill in us those days.Thank you father..May your soul rest in peace

Very sad to hear Fr. Lobo is no more. He was the strength of youth, school children, and a big supporter of poor people. Our diocese lossed a great Priest. Rest in peace Fr. LOBO. We miss you.
