Mangalore: Nominations Invited for ‘Konkani Kendra—Kalakar Puraskar ‘08’

Mangalore, Oct 8: The Carvallo family ‘Thomas Stevens Konkani Kendra–Kalakar Puraskar 2008’, will be awarded on Sunday November 2 at the Kalangan Konkani amphitheater.
 
This year’s award will be presented to individuals who have contributed qualitatively to devotional music.  The nominations or recommendations should be accompanied with a colour photograph and detailed information of the nominee. The nominations can be sent to Kalangan, Makale, Shaktinagar, Mangalore–575 016 by Thursday October 23.  The selection committee will make the final choice from among the nominees.

    I am a social reformer. I have been trying to protect reform and preserve 34 temples of ancient time of Mugal Period for 38 years. Few of the Hindu Community of this location to breack the aforesaid the temples and they used the collected bricks and stones in the work of building houses and they sold the idols. To prohibit doing so, I had to face troubles. On the other hand, as I protect the historical and monuments (old temples), I also singled out in my village. It is a precarious situation for me and my family.
    For communal harmony and solidarity “KABIR” Award was given to me by Hon’ble President of India with honour in 1994. I have got the “24 Ghanta Ananya Samman” by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal in 2009. The Sony Television has given me the “CID Gallantry Award” in 2010.
    I am a very poor man .My father expired 15 years ago. We are seven brothers and three sisters. I am the elder son. It is a great for me to run the family with meager income. I know it’s a hard and tough battle and I have been fighting it for long. I also know, there is no end to it for a poor Indian villager like me.
    I beg to offer myself as a Candidate for “Konkani Kendra-Kalakar Puraskar” and furnish the particulars for your kind perusal.
