Kundapur: Woman dies, child has miraculous escape in road accident at Thekkatte

Kundapur, Jul 24: A 30-year-old woman lost her life while her child escaped unhurt in an accident which took place on NH66 at Thekkatte on Tuesday, July 24.

The deceased has been identified as Sujatha.

A speeding Scorpio vehicle reportedly hit the scooter which Sujatha was riding killing her on the spot. Sujatha was the wife of Harish, a resident of Markod near Kageri, Koteshwar. Sujatha’s three and half year old child who was also on the scooter miraculously escaped unhurt.

Sujatha was approaching from Udupi. She had taken a left at Thekkate circle and was crossing the highway towards Karnataka Bank when the Scorpio which was speeding from Kundapur to Udupi hit her scooter. Sujatha, who was thrown to road due to the impact, died on the spot. The child which was standing in the front of the scooter remained unhurt.

It is said that Sujatha was a daily wage labourer. Her child has become an orphan due to the incident. A case has been registered at Kundapur traffic police station.

    Very heart rendering May her soul rest in peace.child became orphan?Sorry,does the child has no father?First of all child will have a shock ,with accident effect,second she will be more shocked to hear mother will never come back.poor child.Hope she may get a good home and will forget the sad incident.Heartfelt sympathy to her family.

    Big vehicles must control speed at junctions to avoid such irreversible tragedies...
    The SUV driver should have moved at parking lot speed...
    Who can console the child???
    SUV driver must be fined at least 50 lakh rupees and the money must take care of the baby ...

    why it is called highway if has move at 50mph speed???
    The uneducated doesnt know how to move the vehicles on crossing, they feel they can pass without knowing their responsibility while driving...

    One educated are those who have made this unscintific highway just to kill people

    Looks like scooter was crossing the road and she must have been inexperienced, couldn't judge the speed of Scorpio.
    When in city it's duty of 4wheelers to be alert, we may expect small vehicle or personal crossing the road, specially aged people .
