Khartoum, Jul 25 (IANS): Between seven and ten people have been killed in heavy rains and floods across Sudan that have also led to the collapse of a large number of buildings, media reported.
"At least seven people were killed and three others were missing when heavy rains and floods hit al-Nuhood town in Sudan's West Kordofan," Xinhua quoted the report as saying.
The authorities are on a high alert and are adopting all necessary precautions.
In North Kordofan State, the floods reportedly cut the main road linking the state with the Sudanese capital.
According to Sudan Tribune, in Eastern Sudan, Osama Saeed of the opposition Beja Congress said three people were killed on Monday and 500 houses collapsed, adding that the affected people are now without shelter.
The Met has warned of medium to heavy rains along with strong winds to hit Kassala, Geddarif, Khartoum, Nahral-Neel, Sinnar, Gezira, White Nile, Kordofan and Darfur states on Wednesday.
