Kashmir, Jammu universities get new Vice Chancellors


Srinagar, Jul 25 (IANS): Talat Ahmed and Manoj Dhar were on Wednesday appointed the Vice Chancellors of the Kashmir and Jammu Universities respectively by Governor N.N. Vohra, who is also the Chancellor of the state varsities.

Sources in the University of Kashmir told IANS that Professor Talat Ahmad, presently Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University, replacing Professor Khurshid Andrabi whose term of office ended in October 2017.

An earth scientist, Ahmad also served as the Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University 2012-2014, before taking over his assignment in Jamia Millia Islamia.

Professor Manoj Dhar replaces Professor R.D.Sharma at the Jammu University, and had taken over charge on Wednesday.

He was presently Professor and Coordinator of the Bioinformatics Centre at the varsity.
