Bengaluru, Jul 25: Mohammed Nalapad, son of Congress MLA NA Haris has publicly apologised for his attack on a youth and said that he would never hurt anyone.
Addressing a gathering in his father’s Assembly constituency, Shanthinagara, Nalapad turned emotional and said, "Before going to jail, I did not know anything about the problems of common people and the poor. I did not know about water scarcity. My life was luxurious without any worries. I faced water shortages in jail. It helped me to understand the life of ordinary people. If anyone understands the water shortage better today, it is me. I will try my best to help you people in getting better civic amenities."
He said that the days that he spent in jail had taught him some lessons about the hardships of life. Apologising to his grandfather and father publicly, Nalapad said, "My grandfather suffered a lot because of me. I caused him so much pain. I will never hurt him again." Seeing him both Haris and his father too turned emotional.
It may be recalled that the 24-year-old Nalapad was sent to jail after he allegedly attacked a youth Vidhwath at a high end pub over a frivolous issue in Bengaluru. The suffered multiple fractures and is still undergoing treatment.
The incident made into national headlines and he was denied bail multiple times. He was granted bail after he spent four months in jail. After the release, Nalapad has been keeping a low profile.
The incident however proved the critics wrong and did not affect his father. Haris won from Shanthinagara constituency comfortably in the assembly polls.
