Gandhigiri - Christians to Send Flowers on Orissa CM's Birthday

Rediff

New Delhi, Oct 8: Christians all across India have decided to do a Munnabhai on Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. In the movie Lage Raho Munnabhai, the lead character played by Sanjay Dutt gets the public to send get-well flowers to the errant builder Lucky Singh, played by Boman Irani, in order to make him mend his ways.

Taking a leaf out of the blockbuster, Christians have decided to do send flowers to Patnaik whose state has been racked by anti-Christian violence for few weeks now, with the state government being little more than a mute witness.

Emails sent by various Christians exhorting everyone to join in the 'birthday celebration' are targeting October 16, Patnaik's 62nd birthday.

'Since we love those who hate us, please do not fail to send him special birthday greetings from the Christian community, especially from those who are impressed by his efforts to uphold the honour of women and enforce the rule of law in this state,' exhorts the email.

The email gives the address of the chief minister's official residence and his email id, so that the flowers and greetings can be sent both online and offline. The Orissa chief minister's phone number too has been added as a helpful gesture for those wishing to call the chief minister on his birthday.

Baapu's thoughts and principles are need of the hour.We must be strong believers of Baapu's concept, before we use him as an example.

Dear Ganesh, Will you please tell me how many "conversions" you have witnessed in M'lore? Did the christian community do any thing wrong to others? Even though they are a minority community they do more social service for the needy. Bajragi's wanted an excuse, unless you are also one of them.........

Better we send flower to the victims to encourage their faith. And in that flowers they will see the face of Jesus Christ Our Lord who saved them from the cruel hands.

I do agree with the phrase "Love those who hate us" . Our christian brothers who are against sending flowers must remember that this was told by Jesus.Jesus succeeded by loving all not by hating all. We wish Mr patnaik will be fair to all hereafterwards.

I don’t think if anybody pours milk to the serpent will it mend its ways??? Never, poisonous serpent will bite anytime. Saul became Paul who was persecuting the Church. Therefore, let us pray that God will mend his ways and one day he will become Paul. Wishing him a happy birthday. Gandhiji learnt Non-Violence through the Holy Bible.

"Gandhigiri - Christians to Send Flowers on Orissa CM's Birthday" Most of the readers are angry on this, I can understand their feeling, but don't forget what Christ has taught us. It is not Gandhigiri, because even Mahatmaji was influenced by the teaching of Jesus Christ and Bible.

That they will love their enemies. Luke 6:27-31 "But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you." So, let us be an witness for this my brothers and sisters. Don't think that I can't understand the pain, feeling of our people who have gone through all the sufferings. But let us try to walk in the path of Christ our Lord.

Wow, that's a great idea. I wish all the Christians send him flowers and greetings. I have one more suggestion - why send him also a backbone and a few pair of eyes and ears and mouth, along with a heart?

A CM mute spectator should not have this previlege of getting flowers on his birthday. As indicated by many readers, there should be a helping fund created by either the Bishop house or any help group so that we can extend helping hand to our oppressed brothers/sisters.

Love those who hate you and pray for those who persecute you, for great will be your reward in heaven. This is one of the teachings of Jesus Christ. Happy Birthday Dear Biju Patnaik. Jesus Loves You And May He Bless You.

Please do not waste your hard earned money on sending flowers to the unworthy ministers/leaders. They are not worthy to get the flowers. Instead, please bombard their email with your messages, thousands of them that his in-box should flood with them. Anyway, the emails are either free or cost very little compared to the flowers. Instead, open a common bank account in every city in the name of 'fight againt anti-Christian movement' and deposit this flower money in it to use it for our fight against the Christians.

Flowers would be a great gesture from the less than 2% of folks that are christians to this guy who represents more than 90% of the folks who decide to abuse minorities.

The flower is a medium used to brighten up a happy occasion or bring solace in bereavement. In my opinion, giving any sort of importance to the birthday of Naveen Patnaik, is direct insult to the people who have suffered fire of hell during the recent riots. We remember and celebrate birthdays of those people who are positive influence in our lives and not those who terrorize mankind.

The Christian community personnel should donate the money to the victims of riot rather than wasting it on boosting the already inflated ego of a minister.
