Kasargod, Jul 27: Indian Muslim League leader and former Kerala minister Cherkala Abdulla passed away here on Friday July 27 at his residence.

He was 86.

Abdulla was admitted at a private hospital in Mangaluru over heart ailment. He was discharged on Thursday night.

He was elected as MLA four times from Manjeshwar. He has also served as minister in A K Antony's cabinet from 2001 to 2004.

He has also served several associations and his party in various key posts.

He was Muslim League district president from 2002 to 2018. 

He is survived by wife Ayisha Cherkala and daughter Munthaz Sameera.
