Mangaluru: Roshni Nilaya organizes exhibition titled ‘Manoja’

Mangaluru, July 28: The Department of Psychology, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya organised an exhibition titled ‘Manoja’ – Born of the mind here at the College Auditorium on July 28, Saturday.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Clinical Psychologist Mahesh B.S, who is also the Assistant Professor at Department of Psychiatry, KMC Hospital, Attavar, Mangaluru.

“Harbouring irrational beliefs is the prime reason for one’s dysfunction,” said Mahesh. Enumerating four types of rational beliefs which are born of the mind, he said changing one’s emotional responses from unhealthy to healthy and irrational to rational would ensure good mental health.



Manoja is a unique platform to discover and gain insight into the ‘two minds’- the rational and the emotional, and how they together shape our lives. An awareness programme was staged to understand emotions and mental well-being. Besides, a visual display of posters, charts, albums, models were explained by budding psychologists on diverse topics like psychology of selfies, Facebook addiction syndrome, Extra sensory perception, therapeutic techniques etc. Other highlights included assessment of personality, learning styles and Emotional Intelligence along with the screening of a documentary titled ‘Dignite’. Students from various Pre- University and degree colleges in and around the city of Mangaluru visited the exhibition.

Roshni Nilaya College Principal Professor Juliet C J, Government First Grade College for Women, Udupi, Department of Psychology Head Dr Vani R Ballal, Faculty of the Department of Psychology, School of Social Work, Associate Professor Sandra Sunitha Lobo and Assistant Professor Yamini Gowda P C, Psy- Forum President Medha G Belgaumkar were present for the programme.

The programme was compered by secretary of the Psy-Forum Archana Nambiar.

    We wish Roshni Nilaya best of success in all their attempts to motive their students. The recent project "Manoja" must have also been a great success. It's always a pleasure to read so many good highlights about Roshni Nilaya, because Roshni Nilaya is part of our neighborhood, and this reputed Institution is producing so many good students to go out in the world and make a "success story" for everyone.
