UAE receives banner as host of World Down Syndrome Congress 2020

Glasgow, Jul 28 (IANS/WAM): The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has received during a session in Scotland a banner as the host of the World Down Syndrome Congress 2020.

UAE's Minister of Community Development Hessa Essa Buhumaid received the banner amidst applaud at the concluding session of the triennial World Down Syndrome Congress (WDSC), in Glasgow.

The UAE will be the first country in the Middle East and North Africa to host the international conference, which brings together more than 1,200 delegates from around the world. Down Syndrome International (DSi), Down Syndrome Scotland and international delegates attended the closing session.

"The UAE's selection to host the World Down Syndrome Congress 2020 was motivated by its prominent international stature and its strategic policies and remarkable achievements in the inclusion and empowerment of people of determination," said Dr Manal Jaroor, the Chairperson of the Emirates Down Syndrome Association.

    Down Syndrome Congress in the UAE in 2020 will be a marvelous idea. The entire UAE has transformed into a dynamic region with progress and prosperity in all facets of life, but in a fast growing society there is still a substantial portion of "haves" and "have nots", and it will take a much longer time to catch up for closer equality. Every part of the world has gone thru this situation, and Education alone has rendered the right solution to make people become aware of the reality of life.

    The "Down Sydrome" therefore is obvious in many parts of the fast changing world, and U.A.E. cannot be an exception. A Congress scheduled in the U.A.E. in 2020 will enable people of the area to get prepared with new thoughts and ideas and cope with the changes of the "real world" as and how they arise.

    Each and every human being in every part of the world has to accept the changes anticipated in life with changes in economic affluence, international adaptation and so many other changes in the daily pattern of life. Time alone will teach all of us new awakenings in life, as we move along with the fast moving situations in life.
