Boat made locally without any safety features. How could even that pass the inspection as a fishing boat. Who is responsible or irresponsible for this boat to be certified. Get to the core and all starts with simple education and value for ones life. Lucky these people were saved, what if other boats were not around who would take the blame?

What sort of training do these fishermen get? Anything in boat launching & handling techniques? Nothing.. If you launch a boat broad side into the waves it will flip, especially near the shore where the waves are breaking. Also if the wave travels faster than the boat it will flip the boat. Simple. When launching the boat & also coming back to shore it is very important for the driver to head into the wave & hold the head of the prow of the boat into the oncoming seas. Otherwise it will flip.
The government should ensure that the fishermen are properly trained & licensed to operate even small fishing boats. No point in saying God is Great & Lucky escape.

Lucky escape for the fishermen. Even though their boat toppled after being hit by huge waves, these fishermen made it to the shores. God bless them and I have been there many times during my trips to India. It is a beautiful place with the sea on one side and a river on the other side. Thanks to Silvester D'souza for the fantastic picture coverage.
