Panaji, Oct 10: The postmortem conducted on the body of deceased Australian John Kelly has confirmed that he died due to haemorrhage shock.
A 65-year-old Australian succumbed to injuries in the hospital after he had an altercation in the pub at Calangute, 10 kms away from here.
He was brutally attacked by the pub staff on Wednesday October 8 morning and he died while being treated at Goa medical college and hospital here.
Police have arrested three persons, two waiters and a security guard who allegedly beat the Australian on Wednesday morning. The scuffle began when the foreigner objected to the way the beer was served to him by the waiter.
The Goa Medical college and hospital doctors had conducted a postmortem on the body which ruled that he died of death due to haemorrhage.
The report has also cited internal haemorrhage and injuries to small intestine as the reasons for his death.
Deputy superintendent of police Gundu Naik said that the foreigner who was admitted in the hospital for almost ten hours was vomiting blood.
Police stated that the Australian was travelling alone in Goa and was staying at a guest house at Candolim, 10 kms away from Calangute. "He was seen with a local friend Monaco Menezes, who is also the complainant in the case when he was assaulted," Naik said.
The police during their initial investigations have said that the death was caused due to assault. "At least till now we can say that the death was due to injuries… We are still investigating," Naik said.
