All-women biking expedition to promote empowerment


Kochi, Aug 1 (IANS): To spread the message of women empowerment, six women intrepid riders have set out to New Delhi with Director General of Police R. Sreelekha flagging off the rally from here.

They started the journey from here on Tuesday on six Royal Enfield bikes and are scheduled to reach Delhi on August 20, with stopovers at various places.

The women are banking professionals employed with Kerala headquartered Federal Bank.

"While this ride is an engagement activity for our lady employees, the broader objective of the expedition is a national level awareness of gender equality," according to the statement released by the bank.

The six member team includes Seetha V Nair,41, Febina K B,34,Sangeetha Sikhamani,32,Merilyn Hamlet,27, Surya Ravindran,24 and Lavanya N,22.
