Parliament discusses Bill on National Sports University

New Delhi, Aug 1 (IANS): The Lok Sabha on Wednesday took up for consideration the National Sports University Bill, 2018, aimed at promoting education in the areas of sports sciences, sports technology, sports management and sports coaching.

The National Sports University Bill, 2018, was introduced by Minister of State for Sports Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore. It will replace an ordinance brought by the government earlier this year.

The proposed university will also function as the national training centre for select sports disciplines by adopting the best international practices.

The proposal was made by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in his Budget speech of 2014-15. The Manipur government has marked 325.90 acres of land in Koutruk, West Imphal district, for setting up the university.

Creation of a National Sports University in India could be a good step in the right direction. This is one way to help millions of Indian youth, both boys and girls, to be groomed with their God given sports and athletic talents and make them equally productive in their abilities of sports and recreations.

India is the largest nation on earth with the largest percentage of youth. The mental aspirations of an Indian youth are enormous. They are smart in their brains, and they all have a healthy body with equal discipline. An Indian youth will always succeed in whatever he or she does in pursuit of sports that require a discipline to mold their body and their brains towards their God gifted talents.

The National Sports University will gain momentum from all the countries abroad who will come forward and help India in whichever way possible. India has been gifted with millions of healthy bodies who are purely vegetarian, and they can produce some of the best athletic abilities that are good for the nation and for the world as well.

We strongly feel that a National Sports University in India will gain tremendous support from the world at large because the World has lot to offer to India, and also lot to gain from India.
