Bengaluru, Aug 2: The #kikichallenge inspired by Canadian rapper Drake’s latest song ‘In My Feelings’ has taken internet by storm. While the trend is catching up in India, with several citizens and celebrities uploading videos dancing to the tunes, the cops in different parts of the country have issued warnings and penalty against those who take part in the popular jig. Many parents are worried about the Kiki challenge, it is gathered.

The challenge involves a slow moving car and those on the passenger front seat, jumping out and dancing with the door open in sync with Drake’s song, while the video is recorded. The dancer then climbs back into the moving car. While many have done the challenge with grace, there are instances where people have hurt themselves.

The craze was first started by comedian Shiggy and the trend caught up with many uploading their versions of the #kikichallenge.

While several took part in the challenge in Bengaluru, on June 29, Adugodi Traffic Police wrote on Twitter, “We strongly oppose the #kikichallenge as it puts the life of the performer and others on the road at risk, including vehicle damage.” They also posted a video of a person performing the challenge, as he accidentally bangs his head on a pole. DCP Traffic East tweeted “We not only oppose but also warn all who are thinking of attempting it that they will be subject to legal action.”

Participants in UAE in trouble

The UAE police have issued arrest warrants against three famous social media personalities in the UAE for dancing to the Kiki challenge and uploading the same on social media.

The Abu Dhabi public prosecution told Khaleej Times that the warrants have been issued for endangering lives and ‘offending public morals’. The authorities have warned that the illegal trend is punishable with imprisonment, fine or both.
