Shanghai, Aug 3 (IANS): Typhoon Jongdari made landfall in Shanghai's coastal Jinshan district at around 10.30 a.m. on Friday, according to the National Meteorological Centre.
Bringing gales and heavy rains, Jongdari uprooted more than 500 trees and caused temporary water-logging and a power blackout for some 800 households, Xinhua quoted the city's flood control headquarters.
The situation has been handled in a timely manner and the rain has weakened, it said.
It also said that 151,400 people have been relocated, over 145 flights and 119 trains cancelled, and some beaches closed.
On July 22, typhoon Ampil made landfall on Shanghai's Chongming island.
