Mangaluru: Mount Carmel School holds PTA general body meeting

Mangaluru, Aug 4: “Alone we can do little, together we can do much” with this in mind, Mount Carmel Central School held its PTA General Body Meeting on Saturday, August 4.

Mind and Soul were spiritually ignited through a prayer song led by the school choir. The Principal Sr Melissa welcomed the gathering with a befitting introduction and welcome to the Chief Guest of the day Dr Krishna Prasad M S, the founder of MINDS Foundation, Mangaluru. She cited in her message the shift of focus from knowledge to learning. She briefed the parents about changes the CBSE has introduced in co - scholastic areas under Health and Physical Education and on the safety measures taken by the school for the protection of the children. She also informed the parents of the Atal Tinkering Lab due to be inaugurated on August 11.

The toppers of Class X and XII board exams and the student achievers in the field of sports were felicitated. The PTEC Secretary Richa Pinto read out the report of the events of the year 2017-18 which was followed by placing the audited accounts to the gathering by the Treasurer Shaila K.

Dr Krishna Prasad, Chief Guest of the day delivered the keynote address wherein he cited about the potential intelligence of every human being and about the art of training the human mind through various exercises of mental discipline.

Election of the new executive committee was held. Sr Carissima acknowledged the staff for their support in cash towards providing Midday Meal for the students of St. Agnes Special School and made an appeal to the parents to support this noble cause.

Neville Rodrigues, the Personality Development Coach briefed the gathering on FOCALS - Future Opportunities Carriers And Life Skills Institute, to prevent screen addiction.

The programme was anchored by Sushma Pearl and PTA Vice President Sandeep D’Souza rendered a heartfelt note of gratitude.
