New York, Aug 5(India Today): Abhijeet Das, an Indian man living in the US state of Pennsylvania, was sentenced this week to 52 months in prison for possession of child pornography, news reports said today.
But that's not all. When Das finishes spending more than four years in prison, he'll face a decade of supervised release, the Tribune-Review reported, quoting a US attorney.
Das, who is 28, "had computer files containing about 1,000 photographs and 380 videos depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to information presented to the court", the report said.
According to the US Department of Justice, "federal [central] law defines child pornography as any visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving a minor (persons less than 18 years old)."
Offenders, it says, "can be prosecuted under state child pornography laws in addition to, or instead of, federal law."
