Car driver carrying papers burnt to death


New Delhi, Aug 11 (IANS): A man from Haryana was charred to death after his car caught fire early Saturday morning, police said.

The victim, Sumit, belonged to Sirsa and was on his way to Gurugram, when his car hit a truck and the newspapers kept in it caught fire at Sheikh Sarai, near Ambedkar Nagar.

Sumit was coming from a printing press in Noida in a Maruti Echo car and was carrying newspapers to be delivered in Gurugram, Deputy Commissioner of Police Romil Baaniya said, adding that this was his routine job.

According to fire officials, a call reporting the incident was received at 1.48 a.m. "Three fire tenders were rushed to douse the fire. His completely burnt body was recovered and sent to a hospital for post-mortem," he said.
