Mysuru, Aug 11: “The Karnataka state government has transferred 52 tahasildars, police sub-inspectors and employees of social welfare department when model code of conduct in the wake of announcement of polls to various urban local bodies was in force,” said K S Eshwarappa, former Karnataka deputy chief minister appealing to the Election Commission (EC) to initiate action against the state government in this respect.

Addressing news reporters on Saturday, August 11, he said that former chief minister Siddaramaiah should be ashamed as the chairman of the coordination committee of the coalition government as the ministers of the concerned departments from which the officials were transferred, when the election code of conduct was in force, are from Congress party.

He asked how Rs 70,000 bill was presented as spent for alcohol to Arvind Kejriwal, chief minister of Delhi, when he had come for swearing-in ceremony of chief minister H D Kumaraswamy despite knowing that state guests should not be served such drinks.

He said that bills were inflated for stay and entertainment of leaders during the swearing-in ceremony. He questioned how the bills were submitted to the government though the rooms were booked by JD(S) members.

“Chandrababu Naidu, chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and Sitaram Yechury, CPI leader, are surprised to see bills of Rs 7.8 lacs and Rs 64,000 respectively spent for them when they came to Bengaluru for the swearing-in ceremony. Therefore, the state government should conduct an investigation and make sure that the guilty are punished,” he demanded.

He said that Kumaraswamy planting paddy saplings at Sitapura in Mandya was a gimmick and urged the chief minister to regularize lands in the names of farmers if he has concern of the farmers. “Kumaraswamy should follow amendment to clause 192(a) of the Land Revenue Act,” he said.
