Udupi, Aug 12: A preparatory meet was held ahead of conducting condolence meeting of Sri Lakshmivar Theertha Swamiji by the followers’ committee on Saturday, August 11 at Mathura Chathra hall. The condolence meet will be held on August 18.
Advocate Ravikiran Murdeshwar speaking at the meeting said, “Many people wanted a fair investigation into Shiroor Swamiji’s death case. There should have been a FIR registered, but in this case only complaint was filed as it was an unnatural death. Once post-mortem report comes, everything will be clear. If the poison content is mentioned in the forensic report and toxicology department, if there is doubt about his unnatural death, FIR must be filed.
“Only with the support of police department, a proper probe can be carried out in this case. The forensic report will give a lead to investigate the case. Some poisonous content can remain for 100 years, but some contents remain only for one week. If the case is getting delayed, there may be chances of closing it. Hence, FIR must be registered on right time to reveal the truth,” he said.
Esha Vittala Swamiji of Kemaru math said, “We are hoping to get positive answer from the investigation team. Once the post-mortem report is out, there will be a clear picture. I am getting threat calls, messages on WhatsApp and other social media platforms. But I do not bother. The investigating officials have been informed about it. It is an act of cowardice. I am a swamiji of non-Brahmin community and I was upset over the recent developments. If they are really courageous, let them come in front of me. I am ready to answer them. I have no doubt on anyone.
“I have fought against many anti-social rivals like Kotachadri, Nethravathi river project, SEZ etc. I have never got any funds from any private institutions for my Math. I am not expecting it also. I never did this neither for my sake nor not for my selfishness nor for money, or for getting fame.
“There is a custom in Hindu society that, a Hindu religious leader must get a good funeral rite his death. We have requested with all other Ashta Math seers to perform funeral rites as per the Hindu tradition. It is their duty too,” he said. He also pressurized that the Dvandva Math (in charge of Sode Math) must take the responsibility in this regard.
Kemaru Swamiji further said, “We, the committee members have decided to conduct condolence meeting on August 18. We will fix a date for tiger dance competition in the next meeting. The competition will be held as part of Ashtami. We will make it happen. The committee has sought opinion on suggesting a place for organising the condolence meeting. Based on those opinions, we will take a decision.”
Businessman Vijay Raghav Rao, Shashidhar bhat and followers of Shiroor Swamiji were present.
