Mangaluru, Aug 13: The 78-year-old man who brutally attacked his sister and bro-in-law on Sunday has revealed to the police that he took the extreme step since the couple denied to give him Rs 200 for his medical treatment.
It may be recalled that Denis D'Souza on Sunday attacked his sister Janet and brother-in-law Joseph with an iron rod. Janet is said to be stable while her husband is critical.
According to police, Denis is a civil contractor and was living in Kapikad near Ullal. He had taken the responsibility of looking after his sisters from childhood and was unmarried. His younger sister Janet got married to Joseph from Puttur. Later the couple rented out their house in Puttur and started living at a house in a property belonging to Denis in Kapikad.

Denis, who is ill, had rented out his house and was living with Janet. Before writing the will in his sister's favour, Denis made sure that she would look after him till his death. Since there were no party to take over the rented house, Denis ran out of money and on Sunday asked Janet to give him Rs 200 for treatment. When she refused, he attacked her and Joseph with iron rod.
Immediately after the attack, Denis went to Ullal police station and said that he had committed double murder. The injured, Janet and Joseph, lying in pool of blood were shifted to Deralakatte hospital by Janet's another brother Oswald D'souza.
Ullal police have taken up investigations.
