Bengaluru: Cost cutting ignored, government agrees to buy eight luxury cars

Bengaluru, Aug 14: It seems the officials are not minding the words of chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, who promised to curtail the unnecessary administration related expenditure. This is quite evident from the fact that the officials of the excise department are continuing their purchase of luxury cars.

The excise department has sent a proposal to the state finance department to buy eight cars for their eight joint commissioners at cost of Rs 10.64 lac for each car and the finance department has approved this proposal.

The approval is given to buy Mahindra XUV W4 FWD type of vehicles, the total cost of which will run into Rs 85.13 lac. It is learnt that the finance department has asked the excise department to spend Rs 6.50 lac for every car and manage the difference amount by adhering to the old vehicle changing guidelines policy.

    I would suggest CM Kumaraswamy government to consider the using seized vehicles rather than buying new vehicles. I had seen hundreds of unclaimed vehicles parked outside the Excise, Customs and Law enforcement department.

    These vehicles before they get aged can be auctioned or convert them to use as department vehicles. They state government can even have tie up with vehicle manufactures for wet lease of vehicles which can be promoted as brand through government.

    Unlike Prime Minister Modi who dumped 'Make in India' Mahindra over 'Made in Germany' BMW worth 3 crores despite assurance to provide full security features, the choice of state CM is right. But extra expenditure can be avoided with the above suggestions.

Commoners have to fulfill their children’s needs so they don’t bother/ have time to talk About minute amount.

    We are the once to be blamed. We do not have unity to challenge our elected leaders without realizing that they are paid servants. We are the employers and they are the employees. If we make this loud and clear they are likely to realize that people cannot be fooled for ever.

    I totally agree with you sir, We have unite and throw most of corrupt and make it clean. Now these people knows our weakness i.e. they will play the game Shaadi Bhagya, Free rice, Ram Mandir, cow protection, etc..... People must understand that the same people are talking about India first and Indian first and they use foreign vehicles, watches and go foreign countries for medical treatment and they will ask others to take treatment in Indian hospitals...... Indian fools wake up.

    No need to point to HDK alone! In 2014 June, some one who was using Scorpio suddenly bought 3 high security cars from Germany for more than 150 crores!. This man has no problem Visiting Pakistan without invitation without these cars but is fearing for his life to visit the iconic Sri Krishna mutt in Udupi even with these cars!. This is the same man who asked people to voluntarily give up LPG subsidy!!!!

    Those cars were bought as part of Security to Indian Prime Minister not as luxury item. U should know the difference between Position and person.If our PM is not secured which ever the party he belongs to it is shame for all of us as nation. Please dont twist the facts
    DC is not so threatened and can live with Rs5 Lakks car. He need not go far Rs15 Lakh luxury car

    Same PM asked our poor farmers of India to donate the old farming utensils to make Sardar Vallabhbhai statue in India and all farmers of India believed and donated their old steel utensils. Asked the people to leave Gas subsidiary to support the poor. He got money to buy luxury cars and just let him check how many gas cylinders the politicians use for their household and do they spend for those cylinders, or they are getting free on tax payers money..... ????

    I was watching a news programme and there are more than 60 people working in our Khadi cloth factory and their average earnings per day is 150 rupees..... It is very sad that some are getting such a meagre salary and our politicians are enjoying luxury cars, bunglows, telephone, etc on tax payers money. What is the difference between looters and our leaders?????
