Yangon, Aug 16 (IANS): Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi will go on a working visit to Singapore soon, it was announced here on Thursday.
Suu Kyi will undertake the visit at the invitation of Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. However, no date of her visit was specified, according to the announcement cited by Xinhua news agency.
She earlier visited Singapore in November-December 2016, during which she held talks with Lee on negotiation between the two countries on an investment treaty, the avoidance of double taxation agreement signed in 1999 and a three-year extension of the MoU on Myanmar-Singapore vocational training.
Trade between Myanmar and Singapore reached $3.8 billion in the fiscal year 2017-18 which ended in March, up by $833 million or 28 per cent from $2.967 billion in 2016-17, according to statistics of the Commerce Ministry.
