Mangaluru: St Aloysius College Higher Primary School organises PTA general body meet

Mangaluru, Aug 18: The annual general body meeting of St Aloysius College Higher Primary School was held on Saturday August 18 in the school auditorium. The meet began with a prayer song followed by welcoming of the parents through words and dance.

The annual report of the year 2017-18 was presented by the secretary Prakash D’Souza through Power Point. Power Point updated the year’s activities like Teacher’s Day celebrations, classwise assemblies, various clubs etc.



Grace Menezes announced the new PTA vice president Rekha Fernandes and the new PTA secretary Jositta Noronha. The out going vice president Loy Noronha was felicitated with a memento.

The chief guest of the programme, Dr Asha Jyothi Rai spoke on the topic Modern Parenting Skills - challenges the parents face in the modern world and how to tackle them. She said parenting is a joy. The ultimate goal of our life is being happy in our lives. The involvement of mother and father is equally important in bringing up the children in a family. Children observe the parents more than listening to them.

She requested the parents to give more importance for physical, emotional and spiritual health of the children to keep themselves fit. She also said to give positive strokes through good words and deeds and to keep up the value system of the environment. Ultimately parents want a healthy and a happy child. Parents can provide everything but must keep the accountability and to discipline the children by being assertive. A child should be an asset and not a liability in a family. A few parents who expressed their problems and views in bringing up their children were answered aptly by the speaker.

In the presidential address the rector Fr Dion Vaz SJ said the ultimate goal of such events is students and the PTA helps us to achieve this goal. He urged the parents to discover the uniqueness in each child. He appreciated the entire programme and requested the parents to be a source of strength for all round development and for the bright future of their children. He then presented the memento to the chief guest.

Alan Menezes, the school pupil leader welcomed the gathering, vote of thanks was by Rishal Fernandes the ASPL. The entire programme was anchored by Bevan, Shrithan, Johan and Kaushik. The meeting concluded by singing the school anthem.
