Vijaywada: BJP MP G V L Narasimha Rao's car runs over two women, one killed


Vijaywada, Aug 25(DC): A woman was killed and another seriously injured when a car belonging to Andhra Pradesh BJP ran them over at Kolanukonda of Tadepalli Mandal in Guntur district on Friday.

BJP Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) G.V.L. Narasimha Rao was travelling in the car at the time of the accident. Tadepalli sub-inspector E. Narayana said that T. Anjamma, 40, and T. Sailaja of Mangalagiri had come to Tadepalli to attend a function.

The duo was returning to Mangalagiri, when the accident occured. They were crossing the highway at Kolanukonda on their way home.

The sub-inspector said that a car AP 16 CS 1616 was travelling towards Vijayawada and the car driver in a bid to avoid pedestrians, who were crossing the road, hit the divider and ran over the two women who were crossing the road.

Anjamma died on the spot and Sailaja was severely injured in the accident.

The police rushed to the spot and shifted Sailaja to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Narasimha Rao who was in the car at the time went to Vijayawada in another car. The police arrested the car driver and have registered a case against him.
